Prophet’s Rock Among New Zealand’s Top 10 Wineries
Wine Searcher names Retrospect Pinot Noir one of the country’s finest wines of 2025.
Prophet’s Rock has been named among the top 10 wineries in New Zealand, with the Retrospect Pinot Noir earning a place in Wine Searcher’s 2025 ranking of the nation’s best wines.
Compiled from aggregated critic scores and global retail data, Wine Searcher’s annual list spans styles and regions, from Hawke’s Bay Syrah to Kumeu Chardonnay and Central Otago Pinot Noir. Prophet’s Rock joins an elite group that includes Rippon, Te Mata, Kumeu River, and Ata Rangi, representing the depth and maturity of modern New Zealand wine.
Positioned ninth overall, the Retrospect Pinot Noir received 94 points, recognized for its structure and age-worthiness. The wine is drawn from Prophet’s Rock’s steep Bendigo slopes and made by winemaker Paul Pujol, whose experience in Alsace and Burgundy continues to shape a restrained, site-driven approach.
The 2025 list reflects the ongoing evolution of New Zealand wine. Three Central Otago Pinot Noirs feature among the top ten, underscoring the region’s growing reputation for wines of depth and longevity.
For Prophet’s Rock, this recognition affirms a steady philosophy: to craft wines of clarity, balance, and enduring character—wines that speak quietly but unmistakably of where they come from.
