Prophet’s Rock Named Viva Winery of the Year 2025

We are delighted to share that Prophet’s Rock has been named Winery of the Year 2025 in the Viva Wine Awards!

Wine editor Dr Jo Burzynska described our wines as “deeply interesting and expressive, created with a spirit of considered innovation and collaboration,” recognising both the classical influences that shaped our winemaking and the distinctive voice of Central Otago that defines it.

In her feature, Jo highlighted the threads that have long run through our work: the Alsatian influence in our dry Pinot Gris, a wine of structure and longevity; the Burgundian conversation within our Cuvée Aux Antipodes, created in collaboration with François Millet; and even the revival of the rare Vin de Paille, an ancient style reimagined for Bendigo’s slopes.

She also emphasised the role of place: our organically farmed estate vineyards in Bendigo, each with their own character — from the schist, quartz, clay and chalk of the Home Vineyard, to the steep, stony terraces of Rocky Point, and the loess and river stones of Kopuwai Delta.

This award is recognition of 25 years spent farming demanding sites, trusting patience over speed, and remaining focused on precision, restraint, and age-worthiness. Above all, it is recognition of Central Otago, a region that continues to show the world what is possible from its extreme landscape.

We are honoured by this acknowledgment, and grateful to everyone who has supported our wines and shared in our journey.
