Pisa Vineyard
The Pisa Vineyard is located on the western shores of Lake Dunstan between the towns of Cromwell and Wanaka. This sub-region of Central Otago is one of the warmest and contains the most plantings.
The Pisa Vineyard is divided into two parts.
The Main Block has been formed by the travels of the Clutha River over the valley floor. The river laid down deep alluvial soils which are very warm, free draining and contribute greatly to the early ripening character of the site. This block is planted in Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and our precious parcel of Riesling is located here.
The Willow Block is a small island terrace between two small streams that flow down from the Pisa Range. The soil is unusual for the area in that it is schist based, essentially ground-up rock from the mountain above. This block is planted in two different clones of Pinot Noir.
