Dry Riesling
The Prophet’s Rock Dry Riesling comes exclusively from our Pisa Vineyard. On the eastern side of the Main Block we have a tiny one hectare parcel of Riesling planted on mineral rich, deep alluvial river terrace.
Riesling holds a special place in our hearts and we are determined to make the absolute best out of our small block. Riesling gets the same meticulous treatment in the vineyard as our top Pinot Noir. Our yields are extremely low to provide us with a concentrated individual expression of our unique site. We average only 300 cases per vintage.
The vinification is heavily influenced by Paul’s time in Alsace where use of wild yeast, multiple small vessels and long ageing are the norm. After long slow ferments the various components are aged on their yeast lees before bottling and the wine is then cellared at least one year before release.
This wine has been extremely well reviewed since the first release in 2006.
